English Professors Laura Fisher and Andrew O’Malley Release New Books

Longtime Ryerson University English professors Dr. Andrew O’Malley and Dr. Laura Fisher have recently published new books in their respective fields.

Dr. Fisher’s latest book Reading for Reform:The Social Work of Literature in the Progressive Era is published by Minnesota University Press and explores the long history of literature and its relevance to the social reform of institutions through literary and cultural contexts.

In addition to serving as department chair for the English program, Dr. O’Malley, edited the 2018 collection of scholarly essays Literary Cultures and Eighteenth-Century Childhoods. The book features extensive discussion on the relationship between children and literature during the 18th century.
